Torralbenc is a traditional Menorcan farm that has been renovated into a luxury hotel, respecting the rich heritage and archaeology of the zone.
The archaeological remains dating from the middle ages that are located close to Torralbenc underscore the importance of this location as a vantage point overseeing the southern coast of Menorca. Torralbenc is a collection of white-washed farm buildings dating from the 19th and early 20th century that were used in the past for farming tasks and that have been carefully restored to recover the essence of the arquitecture and the natural environment.
Torralbenc is located close to Alaior in Menorca, on a privileged small hill surrounded by vineyards and with commanding views of the Mediterranean. It sits between Mahón and Ciudadela, close to some of the most extensive sandy beaches on the island.
Preserving the history of Torralbenc, the former store-house used in the past for grape harvest and wine barrels has been reconverted into a cosy restaurant.
The restaurant reflects the gastronomic roots of the island, rich with the flavours of the Mediterranean Sea and Menorcan land, and always offering the finest seasonal produce from local suppliers. Established family recipes using new culinary techniques prepared to enjoy in the pleasant open aire terrace or in the cosy dining room.
All of this under the guidance of the renowned chef Paco Morales, awarded a Michelin Star in his homonymous restaurant in Ontinyent.

His Opinion: The location is absolutely stunning and the staff are all lovely. Our main feedback (which we fedback during our visit) was that the breakfast service was chaotic - orders lost and food arriving cold. This did not feel like an issue of the servers who were (as noted above) lovely - but there did not seem to be enough of them. We attended breakfast on 3 days at different times so this was not just a busy moment and our bad luck.
Our other observation was that in an absolute top price hotel it was very odd we were restricted to 4 bottles of water a day (2 each). Nowhere else on the island did this. In a location where drinking tap water is not recommended we would expect the hotel to address with an adequate supply of free water.

His Opinion: Die ganze Anlage, einfach ein Bijou, mit soviel Stil und Klasse angelegt. Die Zimmer grosszügig und herrlich designed! Der Service unaufgeregt, aber jederzeit spürbar und abrufbar wenn nötig. Zuvorkommend und äusserst kompetent, was Fragen zur näheren und weiteren Umgebung von Hotel und Insel betrifft. Auch kurzfristig geäusserte Wünsche betreffend Picnic werden spontan erfüllt.
Werden das Torralbec sicher wieder besuchen!

Seul regret: la carte du snacking un peu trop internationale. On aurait aimé avoir plus de tapas typiques.

On the day of departure there was no one there to help with the luggage.

His Opinion: Everything about the hotel was excellent and we shall definitely return...service, staff, food, accommodation all amazing.
The only thing that spoilt our experience was a mix up re timings for our departure in a chauffeur driven limousine organised through the hotel and most particularly the discourteous and disrespectful driver which reflects badly on the hotel which strives so hard to make everything absolutely perfect.

From the healthy, and spectacularly good breakfasts, delivered to our room in a lovely basket and enjoyed on our patio, to the aesthetically refinement in every detail of the hotel - the white-washed facades, the warm colors of the stone bathrooms, the indirect lighting, plashing fountains, elegantly simple gardens, one of the world's great swimming pools (filled with sparkling sea-water) and an indoor/outdoor restaurant where all these same details are reflected in the quality of the ingredients and the straightforward but subtle elements the cooking. The island of Menorca is a low-key dream of beaches, stone fences, beautiful trees, distinctive architecture, lovely people and delicious Catalan food. We hope to make an annual pilgrimage, and for Torralbenc's spell of calm, pleasing fragrances, and flawless design to leave a deep impression of on our son Theo's childhood memories.

His Opinion: We had to curtail our stay at Torralbenc owing to a funeral......we would love to have stayed for at least a whole week; the ambience is so tranquil and there is so much outdoor space. Our superior room was perfection, plenty of room in both bedroom, and sitting areas and a fabulous two basin bathroom, with bath and separate shower. The decor is calm and subtle. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner with friends on one evening .
The staff are so kind, attentive and happy and will attend to your every need - it was a joy to stay there and we very much hope to return for longer.

His Opinion: This is our second stay at Torralbenc and it was even better than last year,many of the staff were the same as last year, their friendly relaxed manner enables you to unwind and relax almost straight away. Nothing is to much trouble to the staff and they make you feel that your happiness during your stay is their priority.
One week at Torralbenc is such a tonic for us both physically and mentally, so much so we have booked again for next year.Just to add as well the food is superb the best fish we have ever eaten and breakfast !!! What a treat every morning.

c'était parfait sauf sur un point : la chambre et la salle de bain manquent cruellement de rangement et placard ...
Nous devions donc laisser une partie de nos affaires dans les valises...C'est vraiment dommage ..
Tout le reste était parfait ! La vue, la terrasse, le petit déjeuner, le room service...

His Opinion: I asked for a "superior" room with a terrace, and I got exactly that. However, the terrace overlooked what can be best described as a walled prison yard except that you can actually access a prison yard whereas all access from the terrace to the yard was blocked by a low hedge.
The pool looked beautiful though looking at it was all you could do as it was too cold to swim in.
The staff and the service were excellent.

His Opinion: Torralbenc exceeded our expectations in every respect. The staff greeted us in the driveway upon our arrival, and throughout our stay they were extremely courteous, helpful, and professional. The grounds are meticulously maintained, and our room was beautiful, well-designed, and, most importantly, comfortable. Our dinners and breakfasts at the hotel were among the best we experienced in our visit to Spain this year. I should also mention that there was an overall feeling of healthfulness about Torralbenc that made our stay especially nice.

His Opinion: Breakfast could be more efficient and less time consuming if the selection from the self-service buffet was a bit more extensive. One could help oneself to a cereal but then had to wait at the table for staff to record an order for the milk to go on the cereal. I can understand that there may be problems about leaving milk and other fresh items in the open but would suggest that some consideration be given to including milk, yoghurt etc at the self-service table and confining to the waiter-order menu to the "cold cuts" and cooked items etc This would presumably reduce the burden on waiting staff especially at the rush time of 09h-10h.
Otherwise Torralbenc was superb and we will be back!

Nous avons été enchantés du premier au dernier instant.
Il se dégage de cet endroit une paix, une sérénité, l'impression d'être chez soi.
Notre chambre était parfaite, le service également, la nourriture même chose.
Il est impossible de trouver un vrai défaut.

His Opinion: We very much enjoyed our stay, however, it would have been great if there were a few discreet things for the children, (i.e. table tennis table....) and a wider choice of food for children.
The hotel is beautiful, and it stands perfectly within the Menorcan countryside.

His Opinion: The hotel property is lovely, and the staff are lovely. It was a shame that we were so early in the season as the weather wasn't great, but Menorca still looked beautiful. In fact the weather being not so good wasn't really that important to us as we came to relax around the hotel, that is why we chose Hotel Torralbenc
